Review/previous story

It's been a long time since the previous episode was uploaded last December, so let's review it.

"I didn't make it in time for the harvest moon, but I'm going to have a new normal moon viewing!" I loudly proclaim that the event will be held, and...

1. Following the traditional moon-viewing style
2. Enjoy different months
3. Enjoy the moon as a side dish!

Based on these three concepts, of course, measures were taken to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, and in order to avoid the 3 Cs, online and outdoor real broadcasts were performed in parallel.  Up until the last time, we talked about “Hybrid holding” and “Let’s try to implement it while incorporating a live feeling!”.

I deeply apologize that this article, which is a sequel to that article and a report on the event, has long passed the traditional Japanese events of New Year, Setsubun, and Hinamatsuri, and even the season of [hanami] has become a thing of the past. Thank you!)

★Did the beautiful moon appear on the night of the [Moon Viewing] event? (The picture is the full moon in October)

Open [New Normal Moon Viewing]

On November 30, 2020 (Monday), as an autumn event, it was held at the last minute due to the season, but on this day when the full moon was approaching, the weather was good and the moon was perfectly round that night. I think we can meet.

The time of moonrise in Tokyo is 16:26. In order to see the moon, it is better to have a certain altitude, and considering the time when the members finish their work and housework and fall down, [Moon Viewing] hosted by nomlog editorial department will start at 20:00. It is because it has started.

This time as well, we decided to prepare food (offerings) and sake for each of us, just as we did during the [Spring Cherry Blossom Viewing]*. It would not be an exaggeration to say that "This event started!" Now, we will introduce the moon viewing items that the participating members prepared themselves.

Online moon viewing from each place. A commemorative screenshot with a moon viewing item! Some people used their own photos of the moon as backgrounds. For some reason, some people have something other than the designated moon viewing item!

When you think of [moon-viewing], you probably have an image of dumplings piled up in a pyramid shape on three sides. They decided to prepare their own "moon cakes".

However, Okamoto's editorial staff (middle right) asked a local Japanese confectionery shop to make a wonderful "Tsukimi Dango"! And instead of pampas grass, an elegant pine bonsai is placed on the table. It looks like a picture!

Also, editorial staff Ichikawa (middle row) said that he and his wife tried to make dumplings the day before, but even though they used a recipe that didn't make them hard, they were already hard by the time they were finished. It seems that I bought a commercially available moon cake. Making dumplings with a couple is heartwarming ~.

It was a "moon cake" instead of dumplings, but 5 out of 9 participants got it! I thought, "I'm sure you can easily buy it anywhere, even at convenience stores." Okazaki editorial staff (bottom center) ran around the supermarket until just before he finally found it.

I and Hideki (upper right) are the same. I was finally able to get two kinds of nuts and sesame seeds at a high-end supermarket. Actually, I wanted the one with "salt egg yolk" like the full moon that you can get in Chinatown. Later, I shared the sesame mooncakes with Taki, an editorial staff member (middle left) who was too busy to prepare alcohol and mooncakes.

Mr. Taki and Mr. Morita (upper left), holding blue label sours and moon cakes, set the moon that they shot themselves as the background screen. It's exactly like an online event!

Tanaka, the editor-in-chief of nomlog (lower right), who has been appointed as the editor-in-chief of Nomlog since 2021, is holding an unexpected item instead of dumplings or moon cakes. She found an apple suitable for moon viewing.

Liquor & LUNA TALK

★I, Hideki, after a lot of hard work found a "sake suitable for moon viewing" and two kinds of moon cakes. The pampas grass, which is traditionally placed on the table, was picked in the field of Izu the day before.

Oh yeah, one of the missions this time was to "prepare sake with the name of the moon" as a moon-viewing item in addition to moon cakes and dumplings.

In fact, I would like to report that this was surprisingly difficult, and it was also a fun task. If you look at the pictures, you can see the hard work. Don't many of the alcoholic beverages held by the participants have the image of being named after the month? If you look it up online, you'll find a lot of alcoholic beverages named after the moon, so I suggested that it wouldn't be such a difficult mission, but when I actually went to a liquor store to look for it, I couldn't find anything! Even if there was one, the price would be a little high and I couldn't afford it. In the end, just like the moon cakes, I finally got my hands on a suitable sake for this event the day before at a supermarket in Nishiizu.

Yokota, a member of the editorial staff (lower left), gave a similar impression, saying, "The fun of searching for products based on the word 'moon' was irresistible." Mr. Yokota is holding a famous Akita sake called “Setsugekka,” which he said went well with the oden that night.

After the members showed off their own moon viewing items, it was time for “LUNA TALK,” where they talked about episodes related to “moon.”

Kanda's editorial staff (top center) talks about "damako nabe," a local dish from her hometown of Akita. "Damako" means dumplings, and it was a delicious regional gourmet information named after Tsukimi dumplings.

Taki, an editorial staff member, tells the story of when he looked up the meaning of the word "Paper Moon." Based on the etymology of the moon made of paper that was used as the background of the stage and the background of the photo studio, we will introduce the story from the explanation of the etymology that it came to be used in the sense of "artificial" or "fake". gave me It's romantic.

Then, I presented a slideshow of October's full moon photos and shooting episodes taken at the Nishiizu solo camp in October.

★This is a slide show with secret stories about the shoot. Of course, the BGM is "Moonlight" by Chihiro Onitsuka.

Here is the miraculous ♡-shaped moon that was taken in such a situation! ↓

★ What a mysterious moon! It might be more valuable than UFO photos!

Actually, it is a failed photo taken with a method called multiple exposure (bitter smile)
When I took a picture of the moon with a telephoto lens, my camera shook and I accidentally ended up with a ♡ shape. Photos ①②⑤⑥ are successful examples of multiple exposure, but it was quite difficult to create a good composition.

Live broadcast from Odaiba

The party was getting lively with the moon-viewing items and "LUNA TALK", but I, who was the only one at NOMURA Co., Ltd., Ltd. Odaiba headquarters, took my laptop to the rooftop, which is a "real moon-viewing broadcast place with no people". up.

★I talked to the company about the purpose of this event, and got special permission to go out to the roof of the head office at night. Remote broadcast from a location overlooking the Rainbow Bridge. The wind on the last day of November is cold!

It's a late autumn night, and it's on the roof of a building on the 13th floor near the sea, so it's cold and windy. And when I looked up at the southeastern sky, a beautiful full moon was floating.

★November full moon with a good feeling. You can see the Tokyo Gate Bridge lit up in blue in the back right.

Point the camera on your computer at the full moon and relay the night view of Odaiba and the round moon to the members who participate online at home. The full moon reflected on the screen is very small, but did you convey the feeling of being live?

Here, in order to practice the last mission of this time, "Enjoy the moon as a side dish in an elegant way!" If you search for images on [Tsukimi Sake], you'll find a lot of elegant visuals, but it's a really cool way to enjoy sake.

I will go out under the moon and try to reflect the moon in the center of the cup... However,
The strong wind shook the water surface of the sake, so the moon did not hold its shape properly and did not float in a perfectly round shape. disappointing!

★After actually trying it, I realized that the height of the moon is important, as well as the calm conditions!

After finishing the live broadcast of the main event in Odaiba, they gradually transitioned to free talks and disbanded.
Somehow, [New Normal Moon Viewing] ended while it was fun.

Comments from participants

How was it when you looked back at this moon viewing later? I asked the participants about their impressions after trying it, so let's take a look at it and introduce it.

It was actually my first time seeing the moon, so it was a new experience! Lol ・I was able to appreciate the shape and color of the moon again. →Thanks to this project, I've been consciously looking at the moon when I'm walking outside at night for the past month.
・Communication with the people at the store where I bought the preparations became richer. → When I said "for the moon viewing", most of the people were impressed, and I was able to create an opportunity for the shop staff to see the moon.
・Because it was online, it was difficult to watch the moon in real time. (It was my first time so I can't say anything lol)

→ Okamoto editorial staff who had a Japanese confectionery shop make "Otsukimi dango", it was a "first time to see the moon" (smiling!) It was a good opportunity to have a good conversation with the shop staff. it was good!

I think that the opportunity to see the moon has certainly increased since the moon viewing is held. Maybe we're headed for the 10th night. Or a little rounder than yesterday. I felt like I was counting down the day of the moon viewing. I was made to realize that the moon still has a function to indicate "time". Also, I was consciously looking for the word “moon”, so I think I started to pay more attention to words related to the moon. Moon-related cultures have many things that make you feel romantic in any country. It's something that people all over the world know about. By setting a theme like this time, it was easy to sympathize with the thoughts of each participant naturally. Large group, first meeting discussion or party? ! I thought it would be useful for In the first place, I think that the purpose of the moon viewing was to strengthen the unity with everyone, so I can understand that such an effect is also working.

→ Taki, an editorial staff member who participated remotely from Osaka, realized that "there was also the purpose of getting everyone together to strengthen the unity". The fact that the theme was the “moon”, which is usually familiar to everyone, may also be a factor that made it easy to create empathy.

With Halloween over and December approaching, the world is all about Christmas. Also, unlike cherry blossom viewing, it can be done all year round, so it can be used as a promotion idea for food and drink.

→ Ichikawa editorial staff failed to make dumplings, but it seems that they enjoyed it as well. I feel like I was a little more “uplifted” during the cherry blossom viewing, but that must be the excitement of overcoming winter and the arrival of spring.

I feel like I've been checking the shape and the like when the moon is out since I've been told that I'm going to have a moon viewing. It was the same with cherry blossom viewing and summer camps, but every time I get excited about what everyone has prepared. As I said during the cherry blossom viewing, even though there are 9 of us, the content really doesn't overlap. smile

→ Editor Kanda, who also commented on the recipe for "nomlog Nabe", said, "Even though there are nine people, the content really doesn't overlap. Lol." (smile)

I usually look up at the white "moon" on the way home from the nursery school with my child or in the daytime, but I feel like I've been thinking about it every day because of this project. I felt that the shape, size, and color were different every time I looked at them. Before this story came out, I saw a big full moon ahead of the road in the residential area, and it was really the most beautiful moon I've ever seen! I was so moved that I wish I had taken a picture for this! I regretted it.

→ Editor Yokota, who joined the event a little late, said, "The most beautiful moon I've ever seen." The rising moon is big and shines in a unique way.

When the state of emergency was declared, I saw the full moon from my home for the first time in a while, and when I got busy again, I completely forgot about looking at the moon. It was a really good time. What month is it today? Can you see it from around here? I became conscious of what I wanted to do from time to time, and it was fun because there was a change in my behavior not only on the day of the event but also before and after it. It made me think that not only the time of the event, but also the changes in the behavior of the participants and the participants who experience the event, are the total value of the event.

→ Tanaka editorial staff, just like everyone else, this moon viewing event triggered me to become aware of the “moon”. It seems that each person enjoyed [moon viewing] from various viewpoints during the preparation period.

This time, just like in the spring and summer, the theme of this event was a new normal event. Let's enjoy watching!", so I would like to conclude the article with the impressions of the participants introduced earlier.

By the way, let me tell you that when I returned home after the event, I quietly tried [Tsukimi Sake] on my veranda late at night! Here is a picture of that time ↓

★At midnight when the wind stopped, I floated the moon floating in the sky of Chigasaki on the cup...

"Eh? The perfectly round moon is floating, but is it this small?"
Apparently, it was then that I realized for the first time that the picture of [Tsukimi Sake], which I often see with a large moon floating in a cup, was an image visual of a lightbulb that looked like a full moon! (end)
