Hello! This is Hideki from the editorial department, who is familiar with the blog of "Yuruyuru Nagisahouki".

nomlog has posted blogs from various Nomura planners' "each individual's point of view" so far, but at the first nomlog editorial meeting this year, "Readers will feel more Nomura as an owned media of the Nomura Group. Let's make a series of projects that can be done and make them into articles!" Based on the resolution, we will post new challenges by the editorial staff every season.

Since this is a project sponsored by nomlog editorial department, let's work on "exploring the possibilities of spaces and events for the future" in a serious and fun way creatively, try it out, and consider it within the editorial department. This is an attempt. And I hope to be able to tell you the whole story through this blog.

That's why the first spring is "exploring the next generation of cherry blossom viewing".

I looked up "Hanami" in the dictionary

In Kano Kojien, "Hanami" is described as follows.

Hanami [Hanami]
To enjoy looking at flowers (mainly cherry blossoms). Flower walk. Flower viewing. cherry blossom viewing
On March 3rd or 4th, it is customary for villagers to gather and eat on top of a hill with a good view. Hanami New Year. Playing Yamaiso

Source (Kojien 6th edition, Iwanami Shoten)

It's a commentary that makes you wonder, "What time of the year is cherry blossom viewing?"
"March 3rd or 4th" is about a month off from the current cherry blossom viewing season (Hinamatsuri!)
"Gathering to eat and drink" is almost the same as today's cherry blossom viewing.

Hanami is a national event that has been held since ancient times in a space with cherry blossoms.
It's a perfect theme for the spring season, which is the start of this series project.
However, the new coronavirus began to spread around the same time, and there were concerns that even ordinary cherry blossom viewing could be infected with the virus. This project started before

"Is it possible to enjoy cherry blossom viewing while avoiding infection?"

While paying attention to such a point of view, we decided to take on the challenge of "exploring the next generation of cherry blossom viewing."

Hanami Project/Planning Meeting

Thus, on a certain day in March 2020, a policy review meeting was held to explore the next generation of cherry blossom viewing.
In preparation for this meeting, each editorial staff had created ideas in advance by the day, and had already exchanged opinions online.
I would like to introduce some excerpts of the plan to everyone.

The proposals that I will show you from now on are not premised on being posted on nomlog, including myself.
It is a thing that the editorial staff created voluntarily. (They later gave their consent.)
The visual images such as photos have been slightly changed for publication,
I would like to tell you the reality of the editorial department, so I will show you almost in the actual form!

The top batter is an idea based on Hideki's web conferencing app.
Each will be introduced in chronological order.

Hideki's plan

The proposal from me,

1. Everyone can participate in the cherry blossom viewing event at the same time in an environment where there is no risk of infection.
2. It is different from normal cherry blossom viewing in that it is not a real party (avoiding infection) at a real time
3. How can we incorporate and express “Nomura-ness”?

The above three points are the main points of this idea. (Illustration: new employee Ellen)
From the proposal, you can see the dilemma to yourself that you can't express 3 well (laughs)

Next, I would like to introduce the ideas of Yokota, a member of the editorial staff who is familiar with posting “interesting event inspection report articles”.

Yokota's plan

"When I thought about the significance of this project, I thought it would be interesting to hold it after the cherry blossom season has passed, so I proposed a 'time-lagged hanami'."

“1. The advantages and perspectives of real-time and post-event events, 2. What elements are hanami packed with in the first place?

I see, Yokota's proposal is an attempt to expose the essence of hanami by experiencing/considering two hanami at different times of cherry blossom blooming (peak and after). The way the cherry blossom viewing elements are arranged in a matrix is like a planner.

The third is the idea of Eri Morita, who wrote the article "Space x Marketing".

Morieri plan

Indoors, regardless of the weather, if you stick to Nomura's unique "spatial presentation and live feeling"...

In Morieri's proposal, you organized the method of cherry blossom viewing along the two axes of "space and realism."

Idea ① is to watch the "cherry blossom photo" brought by each person on the big screen,
Idea 2 seems to have the same idea as Hideki's "Food Festival".

The fourth is the idea of Okamoto's editorial staff, who is "searching for material" every day.

Okamoto's plan

Okamoto's proposal started with "What is Hanami?"
The idea is  to seek out a hanami style that fits the times while preserving that identity.

Organize the direction of hanami

Once we had a few ideas, Yokota sorted out the direction of the experimental event.
By consolidating each plan and narrowing down the direction to three points, we can see what we should do specifically.

The reason why the three circles look like "Hanami Dango" is because I'm a glutton? !

Here, a new word "returning to the origin of cherry blossom viewing" has appeared.
Yes, understanding the beginning and origin of hanami in Japan will lead to the creation of a new hanami style for the future while maintaining the identity of hanami.

So Hideki tried to find out its origin. And here's what I put together with the idea to experience it.

I've heard a lot of opinions and ideas from other people.
Due to editing reasons, I have only introduced the ideas of the editors who have written proposals.

Based on these ideas, we were like, "Well, let's just do it!"

In the spring of 2020, when the cherry blossoms in Tokyo will be at their best
It has been decided to hold an experimental cherry blossom viewing using a virtual "WEB conference application".

The content of the event and the actual cherry blossom viewing will be reported in "Exploring the next generation cherry blossom viewing - I tried it".

This is what Hideki told us from the scene of nomlog editorial meeting. (March 2020 certain diary)
