Hello!
My name is Nishibata, a “travel and life planner” who will go abroad if there are two consecutive holidays.
I like the pattern of leaving the country on a late-night flight after work and returning home on an early-morning flight → going to work.

I have a "travel addiction" and my body aches a month after my previous trip, but when I think about my past trips, I wonder why I am so fascinated by travel in the first place. can.

What is a "journey"? The 3 Elements of “Travel” and the “Travel Mind”

I prefer to use the word "journey" instead of "journey".

About this difference
The purpose of "travel" is to arrive at the destination, and it is pre-established.
The journey itself is the purpose of a “journey,” and the process leading to the destination also has potential.

I think.

Isn't "traveling" somehow more adventurous and exciting?
Looking back on my past, I have always been fascinated by the joy of going overseas with a sense of values like "travel."

So, when I unraveled my memorable "journey", I realized that the following three elements are essential to the charm of "journey".

<Increase charm! Three Elements of Travel>
Contingency: Encountering an event that was not expected in advance
・Dissimilarity: Noticing a world that is different from the common sense in yourself
・Experience: Enjoying with all five senses

By combining these "three elements of travel", various events that occur at the destination have been sublimated into irreplaceable memories as experience value.

In addition, as a major premise, it is essential to have a positive mind (mind) to enjoy "travel" in the first place.
It is precisely because you are in a relaxed, open-minded and positive state that you become aware of the three elements and are excited by various encounters and discoveries.

"Travel" is the world seen through "Travel Mind"

Based on this positive mind (mind), if we define the “mind of travel” as “the mind of (experience) that honestly tries to enjoy encounters (accidentalities) with differences (differences) with the five senses”., I came to the answer that the world seen through "Travel Mind" is creating the satisfaction of "Travel" full of personality.

Even if there are no big changes or unknown activities in the "journey", you can enjoy it in any way you like, depending on your mind.

Looking back on the Route 66 drive trip

Route 66, which stretches from Chicago to Los Angeles and has a total length of 3,755km, has been the setting for many movies.
At the time of its construction in 1920, it was a road that supported logistics and movement within the continent, and could be said to be the original scenery of the United States. .

On this trip, we continued driving from Santa Fe to Sedona, stopping at a huge 50,000-year-old crater and a famous hotel.

Of course, it was fun to visit the sightseeing spots that I had planned before I left, but looking back now, the first thing that comes to my mind is the “casual scenery of the city” that I stopped by aimlessly.
The streets are lined with pawnshops and consumer finance in buildings with broken lattices. I still remember it vividly.

The tension was one of the attractions, but more than that, I felt like I was instantly warped into the American society of the past, and I felt like I had a glimpse of the rise and fall of America. However, it was shocking to feel the flow of the times replaced by expressways.

If you unravel this experience with the three elements mentioned above,
In a small town I happened to stop by (accidentality), I was able to feel an American landscape that was different from what I had imagined (difference) in a dry wind and quiet atmosphere (experience).
But I realize that it is an element of a memorable "journey" for me.

Even if nothing big changes, I felt that by sharpening my senses and actively enjoying the events in front of me, I could sublimate them into fascinating memories of my "journey."

Incorporating a “travel mindset” into “daily life”

In the past few months, even though I had time and days off, I could only go out to the supermarket once every three days.
As someone with a travel addiction, I had quite a dilemma in this confined “daily life”.

"Even if you have time, you can't go on a trip..."

If you can enjoy the same feeling as "travel", you can find more fun even in the "everyday life" of the corona disaster.
Based on this thought, I realized something by incorporating the "travel mindset" into "everyday life."

One day while I was working from home, a small visitor came to my garden, which I hadn't paid much attention to before Covid.

A blissful time playing with cats

In the early afternoon, the time to play with the cats that came to play in the garden was a blissful (healing?) time for the corona misfortune.

In the garden I saw again in the "everyday life" of the corona sickness (accidentality), I noticed a visit by a cat that I had not noticed before (difference), and had a happy time playing with cats (experience). about it!

As I continue to work from home and my days tend to be closed, I tried to incorporate a "travel mindset" into my "daily life" in order to enjoy it in a positive way. .

The hint of happiness is in the "travel mindset"!

Now that I can't go on a "trip", I realized that a "travel mindset" can be a hint to spend "everyday" richly.
Noticing small changes in "daily life" (contingency & difference), and making full use of the five senses (experience).
Before COVID-19, I was so overwhelmed by my “everyday life” that I almost forgot about such things.

I would like to be conscious of this realization even in the post-corona "new normal" and increase happiness!
