GLASSMART exhibition vol.1 "Thinking about the future with AGC"

Collaboration exhibition of AGC x NOMURA Co., Ltd.
"GLASSMART exhibition" has started!

The collaboration project "GLASSMART Exhibition", which is jointly held with AGC, which is familiar with Issey Takahashi's commercial, started on September 17th at AGC Studio in Kyobashi!

It was in 2017 that our company started considering product development with AGC. Exactly one year ago, in September 2018, we signed a collaboration agreement and have been developing new products that will surprise the world. In this special exhibition, we are exhibiting prototypes of products that have been developed over time. As a member of the planning team, I was in charge of everything from product planning to planning for this exhibition. In this article, we will introduce the 6 products on display.

＃01 Sound comes out of the glass itself...! ?

"Where is this sound coming from?" It is a speaker that can create such a mysterious experience. The glass itself becomes a speaker by vibrating the glass with a round vibrator that sticks to it. The sound comes straight from the entire glass surface, so the sound is powerful. In this exhibition, seven glass speakers are arranged to create a three-dimensional audio environment. Experience the mysterious experience of being surrounded by invisible speakers.

＃02 Gaze ON-OFF
dimming shoji

It is a shoji that combines the highly designed lattice and the dimming function of the glass. The glass can be switched between transparent and white by turning the switch ON and OFF, so depending on the situation, you can create a "glow" for the line of sight, or control the line of sight instead of curtains or blinds, creating new ways to divide spaces. Is possible. Combined with the shoji frame originally designed by our company, it realizes a fusion of beautiful design and modern functionality, whether it is opened or closed.

＃03 A mirror that reflects information like a tablet
MIRRORIA

A high-quality smart mirror with a crisp mirror image and an easy-to-read display. With a special technology that balances the reflectance of the mirror and the transmittance of the display, we have achieved a quality that makes you feel like you are in the same dimension as the image. The studio proposes a wide range of uses, such as information display functions such as weather and temperature, and communication functions using characters.

＃04 Lightweight and can be used for DIY
plume mirror

This is a new product in the "Plum Series" of lightweight interior glass that pursues lightness and safety. It is less than half the weight of conventional mirrors, and the foamed resin on the back prevents fragments from scattering even if it breaks. This is an existing AGC product, but at this exhibition we have prepared a corner where you can compare the weight. Experience lightness like never before compared to ordinary glass.

＃05 Blurred image expression with a sense of depth
VR windows

By combining glass and video equipment, it is a production lighting that can express the depth and realism unique to glass. So far, we have exhibited simulated window content such as the sky and greenery, and content with geometric patterns, but for this exhibition, we created an art type that projects images of contemporary dance. Also, as a new attempt, we challenged the combination with expressive glass. It's a new video expression that you can't see anywhere else, so please check it out.

＃06 Light spreads, increases, and is colored
PRISMINATION

This is an installation work in collaboration with our laboratory "NOMLAB", which works on the theme of "digital innovation x place creation". By combining various types of glass and lighting effects of white moving lights, we have created a fantastic space that looks like a kaleidoscope. Learn more here.

Thinking about a comfortable future life created with technology

When I got ready in the morning, I naturally asked the AI assistant about the weather. In this project, I would like to present not only amazing technologies that change the world, but also new human-scale technologies that enrich our lives. This exhibition does not end here, but we will continue to develop products that will be familiar to people in their lives in 5 to 10 years from now, so please keep an eye on them.
