"Find colors, create colors" -Senri Chuo Park Art Workshop

Hiromi Haruna of NOMURA Co., Ltd., Ltd. Public Relations Department participated in the event "Find Color, Create Color" held at Senri Central Park in Toyonaka City, Osaka.
This time, we will introduce the event on the day and the efforts of the "Senri Central Park Revitalization Project" toward March 2023, along with the voices of the project staff.

What does it mean to "find a color and create a color"?

On October 1st (Sat) and 2nd (Sun), 2022, an art workshop “Find Color, Create Color” will be held to discover the new charm of Senri Central Park. We were in charge of planning, designing and running the event.
This art event was born from the desire to create an opportunity for local residents to come into contact with art and manufacturing, and to create a platform in Senri Central Park where artists can play an active role.
We asked Mugi Nakajima, an artist based in Osaka, to come up with a workshop that would be unique to Senri Chuo Park and would make the most of the park warehouse that will be reborn.

While walking around the park with Mugi Nakashima and taking home and remembering what they found, each participant mixed paints to create their own “color” of the park.

Event venue "Senri Central Park"

Senri Chuo Park is a comprehensive park with an area of 14.2ha located in Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture. It has a gymnasium and a roller slide with a total length of 150m, and is used by many citizens.

The venue for the event is the former park management office. We also focused on creating an exciting venue so that children can enjoy themselves with peace of mind.

From here, I will tell you about the workshop.

Part 1. "Find Color"

The color of the trees, the color of the sky and water, the color of the light and shadow, the color of the people walking along the road, the color of the wind...Mr. Let me.

Participants ran around the park regardless of whether they were parents or children.

Part 2. "Make color"

When the “colors” found in the park were made with paints and painted on paper, the colors of Senri Chuo Park that each person imagined appeared on the table.

"For example, what kind of 'color' did you make for the water in the fountain? It's not always 'light blue' for water. Let's create the 'color' that you feel!" I will come.

It was very impressive to see everyone enjoying and freely expressing “color” by painting in circles and pressing handprints.

So many “colors” were born!

Create a color chart by assigning original names to the “colors” found by the participants.
It was a workout in one place, Senri Central Park, but I was able to create such a wide variety of “colors”.

From those who attended the event:

• I was able to give my child a very good experience, and most of all, I enjoyed myself as a parent.
• It was a wonderful content that children can enjoy with all their might for two hours.
• It was fun to be able to play in the usual park.
• The staff was kind and easy to spend.

“Social Good” at Senri Chuo Park

In order to realize a sustainable society, NOMURA Co., Ltd. promotes "social good activities" that create a positive impact through business activities. This event is exactly one of the social good activities.
Through participatory workshops, this program creates opportunities for interaction between local residents and visitors to Senri Chuo Park, leading to regional revitalization through which they can experience the joy and potential of co-creation with others. By utilizing the space of the building that will be the base facility that will open next spring, we have created a place to make the base facility known and foster a sense of expectation, and to visualize the company's contribution to and cooperation with the community.

Since there is no rendering of the finished product, chance events will arise, and I thought that by combining art, I could further enhance the story of facility development, so I embarked on this project.

We would like to continue our activities so that people can feel closer to local life through art experiences that open up the senses that we forget in our daily lives and suddenly give us new perspectives.

What's next?

Based on the “colors” created at this “Find and Create Colors” event, we will hold a workshop to paint the entire wall of the community space that will open in the park in March 2023. It is scheduled to be held.

And for the Spring 2023 "Senri Central Park Revitalization Project"

Announced on November 7, 2022 (Monday), H2O Retailing (H2O) Co., Ltd. represented by "Senri Chuo Park Partners" "Activation Project for Senri Chuo Park Redevelopment" ( Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture), five companies have been decided to cooperate in the business operation, and the outline of the profit facility has been decided.
This is the first time for the H2O Group to handle a park business, and the facility is scheduled to open in late March 2023. As one of the cooperating companies, NOMURA Co., Ltd. will be in charge of the design, engineering and construction.
Based on the business concept of "PLAY 1OOORE SCENES", the "Activation Project for the Redevelopment of Senri Central Park" connects people and allows local residents to participate in park development (Open ), we aim to create a park that is close to the daily lives of local residents and that people want to visit every day (Ordinary), and we will establish and operate facilities that make use of existing things (Organic) while preserving the rich nature.

The renovated building in the park will house a cafe, mini-shop, and community space. The café serves dishes made with local ingredients, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages, while the mini shop sells the drinks and ice creams that the park needs.
The community space will be used as a "place of creation" where local residents, students, volunteers, companies, etc. will participate together on a daily basis to create new activities and connections.
In addition, park communicators will be stationed at all times to listen to what they want to do in the park and any problems they may have while building the park together. In addition, they will sell sunshade items and hobby goods necessary for spending time in the park, and hold workshops on vegetable gardens and food. is scheduled to be implemented.

in conclusion

I myself, who participated in the event, had a very warm time, enjoying the friendly atmosphere of the project members, and seeing the smiling faces of the participants interacting with each other.
By actually seeing the voices of the participants and seeing how the employees are playing an active role in the field, I felt the members' passion for the project even more. Expectations are high for future activities for spring.
